The next-generation MPE electronic instrument
40 years in the making, the Haken Continuum is an MPE+ standalone synthesizer, MPE controller and audio processor designed to be as expressive to play as acoustic instruments.
Its unique sensitive playing surface seamlessly interfaces with the powerful EaganMatrix sound engine for a truly organic playing experience.
The Continuum ships with +500 presets, each of them behaving like different instruments!

Passion in Design and Build
Designed and handbuilt by Dr. Lippold Haken, each Continuum Fingerboard is meticulously assembled for optimal quality. We operate like a premium guitar craftsman would, building small numbers and carefully crafting the instrument with love and attention to detail.
Infinite Control Dimensions
When a violin plays a note, it always starts slightly out of tune, but a skilled player will very quickly slide into the correct pitch. This split-second correction is one of the main reasons that acoustic instruments sound so soulful and alive.
In the world of electronic instruments, the Continuum is uniquely sensitive to, not just pitch, but also pressure, and finger position.
It tracks each finger individually with microscopic accuracy, by using up to 12 Hall Effect sensors per finger. Each sensor is sampled by a 14 bit A/D converter (which is 64x more accurate than a standard 8 bit Midi controller).
However, a long note played on the Continuum will have hundreds of thousands of Hall Effect samples, making it exponentially more accurate and sensitive.
A Gloriously Unique Sound Engine
The Continuum is powered by the EaganMatrix sound engine, a modular synth engine tapping into the subtle-to-dramatic musical possibilities of the Continuum’s surface, creating a perfect connection between the performer, instrument, and sound engine.
The EaganMatrix allows users to finely craft their musical sound by digitally connecting audio and control modules via a patching matrix.

The EaganMatrix can also be used as a processor to give life to any other sound, check the demo in the video below!
